Makeup Routine – Daytime

February 22, 2017

I’ve had the same daily makeup routine for probably the last 5 years. Some of the beauty products in my makeup bag, I’ve actually been using since high school. I still love to get out of my comfort zone and try new products but I always seem to go back to the same ones.

As you know, I love shopping for sale items but makeup is one thing I allow myself to splurge on. I do most of my shopping at Sephora but some of my daily products I get from drugstores.

Lately I’ve been battling with some hormonal breakouts so it can be challenging to find a good balance when it comes to coverage and light weight makeup but I think I found what works for me. I start off by applying Marcelle Matt BB Cream which doesn’t give a lot of coverage so I apply Physicians Formula Foundation Powder over it. I actually tried switching to the Bare Minerals Foundation Powder that everyone seems to love but I just couldn’t do it. The Physicians Formula powder is so much easier to blend on your skin and doesn’t make my face feel as oily.

When I’m going through a lot of breakouts and my face feels oilier, I switch to Cover FX BB Cream.

Literally, I felt like I hit the jack pot when I found the Mac Pro-longwear Concealer. It’s the only concealer I’ve tried that still looks good at the end of the day. I also use the Mac Paint Pot in the colour Painterly over my eyelid before applying eye shadow. I use it as a primer…it helps keep my eyelids moistured.

When it comes to eye shadow, I like something very light for the day. I use the Canyon Classics Physicians Formula Eye Shadow palette. I use the top right colour (as you can tell) all over the eyelid and then a bit of the bottom right colour in the crease. This eyeshadow gives a really nice smooth matt finish.

My all time favourite mascara is the Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara. I naturally already have long eyelashes but this just gives it that little extra it needs. I sometimes switch to the Buxom mascara to switch it up.

For my blush, I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in the colour Soft Plum. I love this colour for Winter as it gives a more natural look. This summer I might switch to something a bit brighter.

Last but not least, I finish it up with the Benefit’s Ka-BROW Eyebrow Cream-Gel to fill in my brows a bit. I prefer this cream-gel over a pencil…it makes it look a bit more natural without harsh lines.

Now that I’ve written this post, I’m thinking “WOW” I actually wear more makeup than I thought. That won’t stop me from trying new beauty products SO please comment below if you have beauty products you use daily and swear by!
